Tempted by a downcast day

And the reports of the earth’s eventual demise

I disappear into the fascination

Of my wild love for the world

And my anxious craving to become one with it

For there is a great turning taking place

A pronounced and reckless conceit regarding the earth

But I am not called to run from fear

Outrage or sorrow

For this is my Father’s world

And as the song of the sphere calls out

To sing itself through me

I must be available

Even if it is a requiem for an irreplaceable planet

Or a song of joyous rebirth

For it becomes clearer and clearer

My cherishing re-creates me daily

And the love of the created realm

However it came to be expressed

Is less an obsession and more a fascination

That insists I stay open in my heart and mind

To lament or celebrate

What ushers in the next age
